The Spirit of Women 2009 Award for the Next Generation of Women's Health Leaders recognizes young professionals with outstanding dedication to professional achievement in women's health.
Dr. Beth Anglin has been selected as the 2009 recipient of the Spirit of Women Award for the Next Generation of Women’s Health Leaders, presented in collaboration with The Snowmass Institute.
Dr. Anglin is a well respected surgeon, voted Chief of Surgery at Medical Center of Plano for 2009 by her fellow surgeons. As a breast surgeon, she has become a champion for the cause of educating women about the importance of good breast health. She launched a Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon over ten years ago in an effort to bring awareness, to educate and to motivate women of all ages to understand the importance of breast health. She devotes her time to various community organizations such as Medical Center of Plano, Gilda Club, American Cancer Society, and Young Survival Coalition: Young Women Against Breast Cancer, FORCE (Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered), local BRIDGE program. She also provides support by speaking and donating her time and services by performing breast cancer surgery for those without insurance or financial means.
Dr. Anglin has impacted policy to increase wellness as well. Every woman who comes in for a mammogram completes an initial risk assessment. Women with positive assessments are counseled on the benefits of having BRCA gene testing done. This process would not have been possible without Dr. Anglin’s perseverance and determination to get the BRCA genetic test available at Medical Center of Plano’s Women's Link Diagnostic Center. Dr. Anglin’s personal mission is to make women aware of the BRCA gene testing so that they can better understand their risk of breast cancer.
Dr. Anglin lives with her husband, Tim, and two children, Wyatt and Luke, in Plano, Texas.
