Spirit Member CEO’s contribute to national strategy session
An ongoing part of our Annual Executive Meeting is our CEO forum which invites and engages our member CEO’s in dialog around issues of significance to American hospitals. This year, our CEO forum will be held on Friday, July 11th. Our Chief Executives will participate in the curriculum of the larger meeting for the morning which explores two important topics:
- Entering the Age of Virtual Healthcare
- Letting Go of Healthcare Assumptions
CEO’s will then gather for an exclusive, facilitated review and response session to the programs of Spirit of Women and the increasing challenges in the US healthcare industry.
Friday evening includes an invitation for CEO’s and a guest to our Annual Red Shoe Ball and National Network Awards event to celebrate Spirit of Women success in moving American women into a healthier future. One hospital, one doctor, one lifestyle step at a time.
Spirit of Women is pleased to provide CEO’s a complimentary one night stay at the Boca Raton Resort & Club as well as to assume the cost of his/her attendance at the conference, all meals and invitations for the CEO and a guest to the Red Shoe Ball. Transportation is at the discretion of each hospital.
Note that CEO’S may be represented at Annual Executive Meeting by a C-Suite designee of Vice President or higher. Each CEO or C-Suite designee should indicate that status when registering for the meeting so that we may share information and prepare materials appropriately. We appreciate your understanding of the high level, proprietary nature of our annual CEO forum.
Members Showcase Opportunities at Annual Executive Meeting
Net•work(n) \'net-,werk\: a usually informally interconnected group or association of persons (as friends or professional colleagues). So, let’s make this more formal! We are looking for members who are willing to be showcased at Annual Executive Meeting.
Our format at Annual Executive Meeting includes various opportunities for members to showcase their successful Spirit implementation. Showcase participants are asked to prepare a short overview (verbal, written and/or presentation) of an aspect of their Spirit program that they are particularly proud of, have had particular success with or is particularly unique.
We are seeking member overviews in the following subject areas:
- Day of Dance
- Family Spirit
- Mid-Life Series (What Women Put Up With, Get What You Need Out of Life)
- New Mom Moments
- Spirit Girls’ Night Out
- Spirit of Nursing
- Spirit of Women Awards
- Spirit of Women Magazine
Interested in participating in a member showcase? Click here (Subject: Showcase my hospital!) and send us a message about which topic you are interested in by June 2nd. Your network coordinator will follow up with you to facilitate your participation.
Networking in Spirit Style
Annual Executive Meeting is a time to renew acquaintances and forge new relationships. It is the one time each year that all members gather to celebrate and share the successes of Spirit of Women as a body. We challenge and encourage you to look within the network for solutions, best practices, ideas and support as you set about the work of your hospital. To assist in your connection to other Spirit members, we will again produce the much acclaimed, much used and much anticipated Spirit Membership Directory!
All attendees at Annual Executive Meeting are included in our directory. This is an excellent way to stay in touch throughout the year with other Spirit executives who you meet at AEM. Jot notes of your conversations. Record members who have models you want to learn more about. Make a friend! Your directory will become a great professional resource.
We are requesting that you provide us with a high resolution JPEG to include with your profile. Photos should be sent via email to Jennifer Buitrago at jbuitrago@spiritofwomen.com not later than June 2, 2008. For members in previous Spirit directories, we will use your photo on file at the national office unless we receive a replacement photo from you by the deadline.
Spirit After Dark
We carry our Spirit networking into the evening with special events for our members. This year we welcome members in true South Florida fashion with the Havana Tropicana Opening Reception. Sunshine state glamour is in full effect at the Red Shoe Ball and National Network Awards. And, don’t miss the fun, informal Spirit Experience: Easy Spanish Lessons and Karaoke Night.
All evening events are included for registered member representatives as well as registered guests (see logistics packet for guest package details).
Attire is as follows.
- Havana Tropicana: evening casual or tropical theme (outdoor event)
- Red Shoe Ball: semi-formal
- Spirit Experience: casual
Red Shoe Ball and National Network Awards

The Red Shoe Initiative has quickly become a mainstay in the fabric of Spirit of Women. A more longstanding initiative – the Spirit Awards – is continuing to impact women across the country. The two join together in our 1st Annual Red Shoe Ball and National Network Awards, an event to celebrate Spirit of Women success in moving American women into a healthier future. One hospital, one doctor, one lifestyle step at a time.
For ten consecutive years, Spirit of Women has recognized ordinary women who take extraordinary action to make your community a better place to live. Most recently, the Red Shoe Initiative has motivated women to take action for their personal health improvement. The impact of each initiative is noteworthy and together, AWESOME.
The Red Shoe Ball is Friday, July 11th and will be held at Boca Raton Resort & Club. The evening consists of dinner, awards and dancing in a setting that pays tribute to dance, the Red Shoe Initiative, and our member hospitals! Honorees will include our three Spirit of Women national award winners as well as our Spirit of Nursing national storyboard winner, among other special recognitions.
Attendance at this event is included for each complimentary member attendee in addition to the member CEO and guest. Attire is semi-formal.
All members can anticipate receiving official Red Shoe Ball and National Network Awards invitations prior to Annual Executive Meeting!
